Having Hope at Home by David S. Craig
Directed by Alain Chamsi

September 14 - 18 & 21 - 25, 2010
Carolyn has hired a midwife to help with the imminent birth of her first child in her drafty rural home in midwinter. Her father and mother are due for dinner at the precise time the first labour pains are felt. Dad is a noted gynecologist with the settled belief that a well equipped hospital is where births, especially that of his first grandchild, should occur. Modern medicine meets midwifery head on in this funny and heartwarming comedy.

The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare
Directed by Jim Holmes
November 9 - 13 & 16 - 20,
 2010
The bard returns to the Kanata Theatre stage for the first time in ten years. Kate squares off against Petruchio in this early and brilliant treatment of the war of the sexes. Who triumphs? You may think you know how it ends, but things aren’t always as they seem. Shakespeare’s enduring and beloved comedy gets a striking new treatment in Kanata Theatre’s production.

Jenny's House of Joy  by Norm Foster
Directed by Jon Alkan
February 1 - 5 & 8 - 12, 2011
Canada and Kanata’s most popular playwright is back. It is 1870 in the American midwest. The setting is a house of, well, “joy”. The four women who staff the establishment are joined by a seemingly naive, refined young woman who feels she can learn the profession, although at first blush she would appear to be totally unsuited to it. The new recruit shows surprising aptitude for her new occupation. The consequences are both funny and dramatic.

Cash on Delivery by Michael Cooney

Directed by Rosemary Keneford
March 22 - 26 & March 29 - April 2
It appears that Eric has been scamming the government by intercepting and cashing the benefit cheques of a number of fictitious lodgers. A government auditor is on the way who will surely expose the scheme. Eric’s only route of escape is to “kill” off the people he has invented. He enlists the unwilling help of Norman, a real lodger. Naturally if anything can go wrong it does. This zany farce is guaranteed to keep you in stitches.

A Few Good Men by Aaron Sorkin
Directed by Shelagh Mills
April May 19 - 14 & 17 - 21, 2011
Guantanamo Bay is at the centre of this gripping play. A cynical lawyer is persuaded to take seriously the defence of two young marines charged with the death of a third. Did the accused act on their own? Were they obeying an unwritten code of honour? If so, does this relieve them of responsibility for their actions? If they are not guilty, who is? The tension never lets up in this classic court drama.

And for the holiday season . . .

Cue for Treason by David S. Craig
Directed by Andrew Williams
December 27 and December 30 at 2 pm,  December 28 and December 29 at 7 pm
Peter and Kit are on the run. Fleeing from trouble at their homes, the youngsters hope to hide within Mr. Desmond’s traveling troupe of Elizabethan actors. Their sanctuary is short lived however, as they become aware of a plot against the Queen. The clock is ticking, the players set, but can they stop the treason before it’s too late? An adventurous tale full of intrigue, action, and just maybe a visit from the Bard himself.

All Cue for Treason tickets $8, discount price $5 if purchased with season’s subscription.
